I was a blondie until I was 14 - 15, then my hair started to get darker. I ended up as a brunette with red highlights, but I've always felt blonde, so by dying it a couple of years back I felt as if I got my "true identity" back somehow.
My confidence has increased, but certainly not by that alone. I like my looks better now that my hair is lighter; it is like a darkness has been lifted from my face. I look less gloomy, more open...(at least that's what I like to think  ).
More attention...yes...but that has more to do with a general change of attitude on my part.
And speaking of hair...I LOVE when someone brushes it for me.
