Aside from the lovely aroma I also found out that the city has knowingly supplied my neighborhood with contaminated water for the past 8 years. We have called and asked for the past 8 years. They repeatedly told us it was safe. I spoke with the supervisor yesterday and was told the city is now admitting guilt and that when the water enters my house and is red or smells like chlorine or sulphur it is unsafe for consumption. We have asked for 8 years. I know of at least 6 women on my block who have miscarried over the past 8 years. Was told it is gonna be fixed by August......

I am/was a professional water consultant. The problems that you have described with your water can be troublesome.
The red color in your water is reflective of the iron content. Anything over .3 will start staining and will cause pipes & such to fill up with particles and evenutally clog them up. Water Heaters and appliances as well.
