The sulphur smell is also indicative of high iron content in your water. Did you notice the smell being only on the hot water side or on both cold and hot?

The swimming pool smell in your water is indeed chlorine. In any city water setting, you will have some residual chlorine flowing out of your taps. However, chlorine is highly corosive and in itself poisioness. Chloring levels out of your tap water SHOULD NOT be above .5 (.1 being the lowest residual acceptable)
