I don't know where you live, but there are Federal Guidelines that municipalities must meet in order to provide safe water to residents. Go to the National Sanitation Foundations website ( www.nsf.com) and you can get some idea of what the guidelines are.
Another item to keep in mind - with that high degree of iron levels in your water (indicative by the rotten egg smell) there is a chance that Iron Bacteria may be present. While in itself not a health hazard, it is like a carrier to many other items that should not be in your water. Cryptspuridium could be present. This is a know health hazard.
