Had no problems with a set-up very similar to yours. I'm using Nero 4.0 .

Sounds like a problem with the computer hardware to me. Before you complain and ask for an exchange drive from the supplier, hinthint, open your computer's case and unplug and re-plug any and every connector of your computer. Could fix an intermittent connector contact or two .... and maybe cure another nuisance, too.
