One of my best friends had a system for his son you might consider. He only allowed his son to watch TV if he was doing something else with his time. He was taking Tae Kwon Do at the time so the son decided he could practice his forms and kicks while still seeing his favorite programs. Oh, martial arts offer some great workouts too if that's something that interests you. The forms are some great agility regiments and too it's never a bad idea to learn self-defense.
