The last of red and orange,
are fading from the sky.
I sit here on a quiet hill,
and slide deep within my mind.
Soon it’s just me and the stars,
the end of another nine to five.
Tired and weary I slip into thoughts,
for what purpose are we alive?

Be still my mind, it seems so restless.
Changes coming from behind, life is passing right before my eyes.
Will there be a future, waiting there for me?
How I wish that I could see, the sights and sounds of destiny.

Why are we here,
and for just how long?
Why is our purpose so unclear?
So many choices turn out wrong.
Wish I knew the right direction,
wish I knew what path to take.
We follow nature’s will,
guided by the hand of fate.

Be still my mind, it seems so restless.

Are we just a speck of dust,
in someone else’s eyes?
Do they study our evolution,
are they a witness to our lives?
And when I dream at night,
is someone else playing mind control?
Spending so much time asleep,
oh, there’s so much that I don’t know.
