nikki1979: Heh, beef is much, much cheaper here than chicken or pork. I can buy an entire beef tenderloin (about 2kg) for $45 pesos (about $22 Canadian dollars). I think that makes it about 16-17 US dollars. But then, there are less expensive cuts than tenderloin.
What is funny is that they really don't do much of the vegetarian thing here. I have some friends and they are vegetarians, not vegans, and we go to restaurants and they ask for things (salads, pizzas, etc.) that look like they will be vegetarian. Without doubt, they often come with ham on them. When they call the waiter back to tell him that they don't eat meat, they always so nicely reply that there isn't any meat in it. If it's not beef, it's just not meat
