Looking for ideas...
I was watching the local news tonight, and they were discussing the local Arnold Classic tournament...where people bench press their weight and then run a 5K race. Interesting tournament, and anyone who finishes wins a medal.
I find I am getting a bit sick of my workout routine....I lift weights about 4 days a week and do cardio about 5. Typically I go to the gym, and I alternate between running, stairmaster, the ski machine, and the elliptical runner....About 45 minutes a session. I also do 150 situps and some stretching exercises. Every blue moon I do a pilates or a step aerobics class...but I often go to the gym at "odd" hours (lunch time or late night) when they don't offer classes.
Since I am in a rut.... I'm wondering what each of you do to stay in shape? Where do you do it? How did you learn?
I'm looking for ideas to spice up my life...
Thanks for the help.

In the winter I walk and swim. I do yoga every other night to stay flexable.
When the snow is gone, I walk/jog, ride my bike, and hike. I still do yoga, but not as often.
I have never been one to go to the gym and lift weights.
My hobies of interior renovation and general construction also help keep me in shape.
I think that you need to develop a Sexersize routen. I'm sure that you could think of lots of varations on traditional workouts that you could do with hubby. You are not allowed to have an orgasm until after the routen is finished.
Hope you find something that works for you.

It's been a progressive thing over the past 4 years. I was *very* overweight and also out of shape...thanks to my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was almost put on disability at work it was so bad.
I've taken off about 40 lbs and also changed my lifestyle. Now, I rarely have mornings where I cannot get out of bed....I've even hiked Half Dome in the past 9 months. Exercise totally changed my life.
I'm still not skinny (working on taking off a few more lbs) ~~ but I know I am much more fit than I used to be. And if nothing else I have a lot of muscle tone. And more pain-free days than painful ones, although I still have flare-ups.
But....now I am looking for a little variety in the routine. I've peaked out on what I am doing, and I'm also sooooo bored that sometimes it's hard to make myself go.
That's why I am looking for alternatives.

Can't help you there.... I'm just getting back in to some kind of fitness myself for a 23 mile sponsored mountain hike for a local charity, I cycle and keep reasonably fit but I want to be sure about finishing, so I'm getting a training prog from the local gym. The fitness bit will not come easy as by nature I'm a bit of an idle lump. But that'll be easier than getting the sponsorship, which is not going well.
PS for those that are still wondering after seeing the Oscar ceremony, in England, to say "This is the Dogs Bollocks" is to say its bloody good! Why? I dunno...

Only if you sweat while thinking about it.

osuche, wish I could give you some ideas, but my work out routine all come from work.... leaping to conclusions, dodging the blame and jumping through hoops , not to mention the occasional 12 oz curls (make sure you use both arms!) ...good luck in finding variety!

One of my best friends had a system for his son you might consider. He only allowed his son to watch TV if he was doing something else with his time. He was taking Tae Kwon Do at the time so the son decided he could practice his forms and kicks while still seeing his favorite programs. Oh, martial arts offer some great workouts too if that's something that interests you. The forms are some great agility regiments and too it's never a bad idea to learn self-defense. Just a thought Hon.... I hope you find something that makes you tingle.
