btw, the Chinese characters were #3, and say "Year of the Tiger"!
(Just in case you were wondering! )
This last one is on my left arm..... the (rather badly drawn.. my fault!) character is "Love", and the two hearts represent my 2 daughters.
(I did think of getting the top one {heart} re-coloured black, when my eldest died..... glad I didn't, now!)
There ya go...... I like 'em, hope you did too!

Lixy, I've been meaning to ask this, but what is the story behind having a fly tattoo? Its cool and all, but there has to be a story with something like that....

It always irritates me,that many say, that people with a tattoo,
were drunk when they got them & regret getting them.I have
three, two are on my forearms & are probably 25+ yrs old.At my
wifes request,I got another on my upper left arm, approx a yr. ago, last Dec.She also paid for the last one. They are ALL custom
designed & I was NOT drunk for any of them & I don't regret
getting any of them.I was going to get at least one more & thought recently, that I'm going to be 60 next mo.,& it's time to
grow up & stop throwing money away! Irish
P.S.I amatuer bodybuild(weight lift)& have fairly large arms.My wife wanted me to get the last one,to help accentuate my biceps!
It's a nice feeling when, at my age, your wife still appreciates your
body.

Me too, Irish! Mine were thought about, decided on, and inked while I was TOTALLY sober..... like the sign said, "Done in minutes, with you for life"
AS for those people who get 1 or more "for Fashion"..... well, I hope they can afford the laser surgery it takes to remove 'em!!

Got to agree with Irish and Dm. It took me years to decide I wanted a tat and decide what I wanted, and in the end it was something that has real meaning to me and my beliefs. Too many people are nowadays going and having them done to be fashionable - will that tattoo still be fashionable in 10 years time? I guess all I can say is "THINK BEFORE INK"
I'll post a pic of mine when I get my camera back off my daughter
I am thinking about having another done thats the same as my AV

Awww hun! TY for asking! I didn't want to bore all who have heard this before...but there are new members who wouldn't know about the fly........except that they land on shit! OMG! LOL! Don't think I haven't heard that one before!
You are correct...there is a story.
Growing up, my mother would tell us (5 kids)......"When I die I'm coming back as a fly......to drive you all as crazy as you are driving me"! Mom had a warped sense of humor.....so I guess it's true that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
Anyway......Mom died in 1982 (at 54 years of age) and from that day on it haunted me and my youngest sister to no end that we could no longer kill houseflies! It just seemed wrong to swat them......so much so that even at work, everyone says to me, "C_ _ _, your mother is driving me nuts over here"! when a fly is annoying them.....lol!
My sis and I couldn't stand it anymore.....knowing how dirty a fly is and taking the time to catch one and release it outdoors (it's a difficult task to say the least)....so we decided we'd tattoo "Mom" on us forever. Sis has the exact tat as you see in the pic.....only hers is on her ankle (she was chicken to get it anywhere else).......and I put mine above my heart!

LixyChick,
I didn’t know, and never did get around to asking, even though I definitely knew it was there. It adds some substance to the you I have known to date. Thanks for the story! I still REALLY like the AV of your butt.

Well here is my only tat (for the time being, i want more).
I got it when my uncle died. I was very close to him and he had this same tat, although his was all black, I thought coloring the center red would be somewhat appropriate ... so that its like the setting sun. his was also on his stomach not his back, again I thought this was appropriate that the setting sun be on my back as if to represent that I am facing a new day. sorry for the spiel, Irish is right though, I hate that some think all tattoos are a result of too much alcohol or whatever ...

Lixy,
That is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. My mother is 54 right now so it really hits home too. And like jseal said, it adds a whole new demension to you and your beauty. ((((Lixy))))

(((((dancingrugger))))))...the tat and your story are equally beautiful!
(((((jseal))))))....TY so much! Um....the ass av huh? I might just go find it! LOL!
(((((((Southern Charm))))))....Here's to you and your mother being together a lot longer than me and mine!
Just a bit to add to my tat story.....
While me and baby sis were at the studio...we were a bit nervous and so we were relating our "I can't kill flies because" story and just roaming around till it was our turn. Finally, I went first....and sis watched closely as the artist did her work. Then sis laid down and bared her ankle...it was prepped and ready to go and I was looking around the studio when I noticed a photograph of Ozzy Osbourne holding a baby. I asked our artist where she got the autographed pic and she said she was at a function for psychics and Ozzy was there and had a line form to have pics taken with him and that the baby in the pic was her son.....but that her and her S/O didn't want to get in the pic. I forgot about the pic and I said...."A psychic huh?" and she told me yes and that she had overheard me and sis talking earlier and wasn't going to say anything......but that she knew my mother hadn't returned in the form of a fly....but in the form of a child (about 2 y/o at the time of our tat fest) and that we knew the child but we weren't related! Well........my sister almost shot off that table when she heard that we could kill flies and not be weirded out that it might be mom........but I MADE her sit back down and finish what we started! LOL! After all.......if psychics were always right....wouldn't they know the daily lottery numbers????? We got the tats just in case......
P.S. Changed the av!
